About CSTS logo

CSTS logo source model

The CSTS logo shows a window taken from the real sectional view of the Dobročský Primeval Forest. It encompasses three main constituents of primeval forests on the Slovak territory - Fir (Abies alba), Beech (Fagus silvatica) and Spruce (Picea abies) - also known as the Carpathian mixture. The sectional view was drawn by Prof. Dr. Štefan Korpeľ, a great Slovak scientist in the field of silviculture. His widow, Mrs. Oľga Korpeľová, has kindly consented to its use in our logo.

About CSTS logo and the internet domain name

We have chosen "ecosystems" to become our internet domain's name www.ecosystems.sk because it will probably be viewed and perhaps utilised as a reference also by people just looking for an information on Slovak nature. To provide that information is an important goal of this site as well.

About the page heading

The brown stain visible in the backround of the page heading symbolizes a soil spread on a pedological record form. The idea to establish the Centre for scientific tourism in Slovakia originated among soil scientists.
